How to survive anxious times

April is a rough month for many of us. The school year is winding down, the weather is unpredictable, and there are all sorts of activities to tend to.

It can be a little crazymaking.

These are the things helping me stay sane. I hope they help you too.

What I’m Listening to:

Mumford and Sons full catalog. We saw them live last week, and have been basking in the awesome ever since.

What I’m Watching :

Morgan Spurlock’s Inside Man I’m only two episodes in, but WOW. It’s a fun watch. The storytelling is authentic and mesmerizing. I’m curious to see where the series will go, there are 3 seasons out on Netflix.

Masterfully done iPhone ads…because…Cookie Monster.

There were even outtakes.

What I’m Reading :

carlin home companion

As a huge fan of the late George Carlin, the Carlin Home Companion is essential. It’s the story of George’s daughter Kelly’s upbringing, and gives us insight into what the man was like offstage. I’ve read his other two memoirs, but this brings a new and even more tender side of Carlin to light. Kelly clearly shares her father’s cleverness and love of words, but brings a level of vulnerability George didn’t share with us while he was alive.

What I’m Doing :

you know the answer
I enjoy reading oracles…here’s how you can do it yourself.

tree worshipping

Some trees just beg to be climbed, sat in and worshipped.

What I’m Eating :

CheapEasyHealthy TastyFishermanEggs

Fisherman’s Eggs, for starters. But also, stovepopped popcorn. Fresh local asparagus sauteed in ghee and garlic. Big glorious hunks of cheese.

What I’m Planning :

In May we’re heading to Planet ComicCon in Kansas City. The lineup is incredible; Stan Lee, multiple Dr Who actors, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, as well as a ton of artists, cosplayers and rad things for sale.
I hope to connect with some other women with a flair all things geek and pop culture. If you’re gonna there, send me a message so we can connect!

I’ve been tagged in this link on social multiple times this month. Folks want to learn Rage Yoga. The traditionalist in my says that’s not what Yoga is about. The realist in me says it’s EXACTLY what Yoga is about.

What do YOU think?

I used to joke about the Spring Freakout. How April can SUCK IT.

Now I make plans to weather the storm. There’s supposed to be some nasty storms heading this way today, which is a perfect metaphor for what so many of us go through when we are feeling anxious.

We need to hunker down and ride it out.

That means Netflix binges without guilt. Climbing trees. Planning roadtrips. And maybe even some nontraditional yoga.

That’s what gets me closer to feeling how I want to feel.
