This time of year can make anyone who lives in a colder clime go BONKERS.
IT’S. SO. COLD.
WET.
HEAVY.
The assumption is that Winter should be over. Clearly it’s not. Spring is on the horizon, but it ain’t here yet. And that can make ya…fussy.
Sometimes all anyone can do is learn how to be okay with things not always being okay.
We get to plan for better days.
There are okay things about February.
This is when the gardener’s catalogs arrive. We’re thinking about what we want to grow this year.
This is when the summer events start announcing. We’re thinking about where we want to go this year.
This is when the days are noticeably longer, and the snow melts a teensy weensy bit every afternoon. We’re thinking about how the sun will feel on our skin. What earth underfoot is going to feel like.
This is when…if you wish it weren’t so…you get to figure out how to change it.
Even if it’s hard right now.
Even if things aren’t the way you want them to be.
Look to the light.
What inspires you?
For gardeners it’s seed catalogs. And books about gardening.
Look to that.
And if it feels right, take a small step. Get out that seed catalog. Make a list of what your garden could grow this year.
You don’t hafta plant yet. It’s just a list.
Life has its seasons. For now, harness that waiting energy and start scheming. Dream about your garden. Plot it out.
Garden=Life.
If you can’t get your hands in the dirt just yet, now’s a good time to create some momentum.
Plan your way.
Need it to be super simple? Break it down into the 3 things you need to do to move forward with your garden.
Need a mountain to climb? Map it all out. Make it a doozy.
Need to see where you’re going? 5 year plan, baby.
Need to focus only on what comes next? Break it down into the tiniest step imaginable. Do that, and then celebrate!
Still need to figure out what the hell you want? Yup, there’s a Holly for that. There’s also one for accountability, brainstorming, and guidance along the way.
Even if you can’t move forward yet, you can get excited. Plot, scheme and dream for better days.
There have always been days like these. We get to use them in our favor.
ps. If you need a loving co-conspirator to help you with your scheming, email me with the subject line Plotting my Garden. Let’s talk about what comes next.
