5-ideas-for-last-minute-gifts

Confession time.

I have yet to buy any gifts for upcoming gatherings. I have our list (mostly) fleshed out, but soon it will be time to do the actual shopping. There a few folks that have me…befuddled.

We all have at least one of them. Someone who is just impossible to buy for.

I actually am one of them. Sometimes I really care about specifics…sometimes I don’t. We’ll call it selectively…selective.

So, speaking for those of us that make you want to pull your hair out…

Give an experience.

We all have stuff. We like stuff. But what if we shared an experience instead?

Float.

I haven’t tried this yet…but I’ve wanted to for years. Float centers are popping up all over, and it’s an excellent opportunity to pamper someone you love. Good for the body and the mind, a 90 minute float might be just what someone you love needs.

Make (or Buy) Dinner.

Invite a friend over for the evening. Make your favorite drinks, hang out in the kitchen and whip up your favorite meal (recipe sharing optional). And if you don’t cook, take em out to that new place you both want to try. Laugh over a long meal. Savor good food and good people.

Learn Something New.

Pottery Making. Painting. Dance. Yoga. Hooping. Ukulele. Is there something that your person wants to do, but just hasn’t made the space to give it a try? Go do it with them. Together, you’ll try something new, laugh a little (or a lot) and share an experience you aren’t likely to forget.

Make a Donation.

Not an experience per se, but still a lovely gift for that person who doesn’t need (or want) anything. Find out what causes are near and dear to them, and make a donation in their name. Check out Charity Navigator for ideas.

Skip It.

Are your people just as overwhelmed as you are? Talk about skipping the exchange this year. They might be relieved. Give the gift of a little freedom from the pressure to find that somethingjustright.

And ultimately…be grateful.

All these people around you? They’re here because you need them. Love them. Nurture them.

If you like, send this list to help them out too.
