I keep seeing Crow Pose everywhere I go.

Blog posts, Pinterest, a friend mentioned it the other day, Instagram, and even in my dreams.

I’m pretty sure I need to learn it now, because the Universe says so.

Us wooey types tend to think everything that happens to us is a sign from the Universe/God/Gods/Guides.

It’s not a bad thing to think this way.

It’s just how we are.

Sometimes you just know. A moment of complete clarity. An epic realization. My cousin calls it a Cosmic 2×4. It’s like the universe is whacking you upside the head. WAKE UP!

Sometimes you aren’t so certain.

I feel bad about this. My belly feels icky. Is it because I’m scared to learn this crazy balancing pose? Is it because I’m right, and nervous as all hell? Is it because I shouldn’t have eaten at that sushi food cart with the horrible reviews?

This is how you can tell the difference.

Listen.

Like, really listen.

Take a moment to get quiet. To breathe. When you’re ready, ask:

What was that all about?

Wait for an answer.

Wait a while if you have to.

This may sound like that process of asking your body when you feel stuck…and it kind of is.

With one important difference.

Rather than asking your little corner of the universe (that’s your body) you’re asking the whole friggin thing. Or God. Whatever your cosmic 2×4 wielder is.

If that still isn’t giving you the clarity you seek; consider these questions:

How will this affect the people around me?

How will this affect my work?

How will this affect me?

These questions you are asking of yourself. Reeeeally pay attention to any answers you might get.

You might misjudge the answer (or lack thereof). That’s okay.

Be willing to make that mistake, and LEARN FROM IT.

You’ll pick up on those cosmic cues faster next time.

But first, you have to be willing to ask.

(For what it’s worth, bad sushi can also be a sign from god…or just bad sushi. Your call.)
